I sure hope this changes back quickly, or we'll be certainly using hotels less for our family travel.

Frustrating because it absolutely felt like a money grab at a resort where the only breakfast option that's not room service is a $30 full buffet, or a coffee shop with $4 donuts.

Why would you not want to offer people a lower-interaction option than sitting in a dining room. Part of what I've always thought I'm paying for with a hotel vs vacation rental is a the housekeeping! With kids, a small space gets a bit grimy after a couple days with no vacuuming, wipe downs, etc.Īnd the lack of room service is ridiculous. Yeah, I seriously missed the maid service while at a resort last week. I cared a bit less when I used to travel 250+ nights a year, but still.I don't find putting a DND sign on the door to be a big deal. I hate it, it's part of what makes it nice about staying in a hotel, I don't have to pick-up much! Usually there is a "Green" option where they don't swap out the sheets and towels (on the floor-replace, hung up, leave) I always opt for that, but do I want them in there to make the bed, order the toiletries on the counter, check the mini-bar, take out the trash, put the shoes in the closet, refold the towels on the drying rack, etc? Yes, for sure, ESPECIALLY on vacation. I wash my sheets and towels once a week at home, why the heck do I want some stranger in my room to swap them out every day? I know I can refuse service, but there have been places that pester you if you have the DND sign up. That’s an interesting difference, I’m loving the reduced maid service. I find this annoying and am ready for this to resume asap! Also, no room service even at fancy places. Hotels - no maid service unless you explicitly ask for it. Even the rental car counter hasn't been an issue. Some of the food vendors & shops aren't open, or are understaffed and maybe short of merchandise. Anonymous wrote:We've flown several times.
